“Every business begins as a whisper from lived experience — a moment that says, this should be better.”
For me, that whisper became a mission to reimagine how women are cared for after birth. — Julia Kim, Founder

A devotion to healing over hustle.

In a culture that glorifies doing, Sanhu House was born from the belief that healing deserves its own rhythm; one defined by warmth, rest, and nourishment. We honor the ancient Korean philosophy of sanhujori and reimagine it through a modern lens, creating a space where new mothers are cared for as wholly as the lives they’ve brought into the world.

Our approach is rooted in reverence for the body and its cycles — a reminder that slowing down is not indulgence, but wisdom. Each ritual, from herbal foot soaks to mindful meals, is an invitation to return to oneself.

The journey through pregnancy and birth is transformative yet often traumatic, leaving many new mothers physically and emotionally drained. Without proper support, the risks of complications—such as prolonged bleeding, infections, chronic pain, and postpartum depression—are high. Comprehensive postpartum care in those tender early days is not just beneficial; it's essential.

Sanhu House is my heartfelt offering to women and birthing people. As a new mother, I envisioned a space that nourishes the body, mind, and soul, encouraging women to invest in their radical rest and healing from the very first day of motherhood.

Drawing from my experiences growing up between California and Korea, where my aunt ran a renowned sanhujoriwon, I founded Sanhu House to fill a critical gap in U.S. healthcare. Combining 24/7 on-premise expertise, coordinated medical care, and traditional Korean practices, Sanhu House provides a sanctuary where both mothers and newborns are deeply cared for, against the serene backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.
