Careers at Sanhu House

The team you've been practicing on your own to find.

Most doulas build their skill in isolation: a client here, a client there, no one to call when a case gets hard, no one watching your work who could tell you it's excellent. Sanhu House exists because that shouldn't be the ceiling for people doing this work.

We built a practice, not a staffing pool: a coordinated team, a real methodology, families who understand exactly what they're paying for and treat you accordingly. If you've ever wished postpartum care had the infrastructure it deserves, this is what that looks like.

Our foundation

Sanhujori, the Korean tradition of warmth, nourishment, and rest after birth, isn't a service tier. It's the methodology every doula here is trained in and practices from.

What we believe

The doula's presence is clinical, not supplementary. We built the entire model (training, matching, mentorship) around that conviction.

What we're building

A standard of postpartum care in LA and Orange County that families actively seek out, and that the practitioners inside it are proud to have their name on.

What working here actually looks like

Honest answers to the questions good doulas ask before they apply.

01

Matched, not marketed for

You don't chase leads, negotiate rates, or manage a client funnel. Our coordination team matches you based on geography, availability, and fit. You show up ready to work; we handle everything upstream of that.

02

A team behind every shift, never solo

You're never the only person who knows what's happening with a client. Every placement has guaranteed backup coverage and a coordinated team of doulas and lactation professionals around you: someone to call for backup, a second opinion, or just to talk through a hard case.

03

A real education program, not onboarding paperwork

Sanhu Circle is a 12-month recurring curriculum: monthly live sessions across clinical practice, cultural tradition, and practitioner wellbeing, recorded into a permanent library. Doulas who go through the sanhujori training tell us it changes how they show up with every family they'll ever work with, not just ours.

04

A career path, not just shifts

You start as a Fellow with a named mentor from day one, and there's a real path from there: doulas who complete enough engagements can mentor incoming Fellows themselves, and senior doulas co-teach Circle sessions as a recognized milestone. Refer another doula who gets hired and you're paid $300 for it.

05

Clients who already understand your value

You're not explaining what a postpartum doula does or defending why the work matters. Our families come to us because they already believe postpartum is healthcare, so you get to focus on the care itself.

06

A community that takes this seriously

Regular peer debriefs. Real mentorship. A culture where postpartum care is treated as the skilled, consequential work it is, surrounded by other practitioners who hold themselves to the same standard.

Families who take the fourth trimester as seriously as you do

The right client makes the work better. We built our practice around families who see it that way too.

They come informed

Our families have already done the research on sanhujori and postpartum recovery before they meet you. You spend your energy on care, not on convincing anyone the work is worth it.

They respect the role

Clear expectations, professional boundaries, and a household that treats your presence as clinical, because that's how we've positioned it to them from the first conversation.

They're set up to receive good care

Our intake process means you walk into a shift already knowing the family's history, needs, and goals, not starting from zero on day one.

They stay in the fold

Many of our families return for future postpartum periods or refer the friends who are expecting next. You're not just working a shift; you're building a reputation that follows you.

Los Angeles & Orange County

We're looking for experienced postpartum doulas who can deliver Sanhu House's Signature-level care independently, and who want to do that inside a structured, mission-driven practice rather than alone.

This role is for doulas who have already built their skills and are ready to work at the highest standard of postpartum care in the LA and OC market. You'll have the support of a coordinated team, a consistent client pipeline, and the intellectual rigor of sanhujori methodology behind every shift.

  • Deliver comprehensive postpartum care in clients' homes: maternal recovery, newborn care, and emotional support woven together
  • Provide hands-on breastfeeding and feeding rhythm support, independently
  • Manage newborn care 0–3 months across day and overnight settings
  • Prepare light recovery-supportive nourishment as part of the sanhujori care model
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture, alongside other senior practitioners and lactation professionals
  • Postpartum doula certification
  • 2+ years of hands-on postpartum experience
  • Strong breastfeeding and feeding support skills
  • Comfortable with overnight care
  • Warmth, discretion, and a high standard of practice
  • Located in or able to serve LA or Orange County

We believe postpartum is healthcare, not a luxury. Join the team redefining how mothers recover.

For certified postpartum doulas earlier in their practice who want to build real depth inside a structured team, rather than learning everything the hard way on their own.

Fellows are paired with a named mentor from day one, trained through the full sanhujori curriculum before their first family, and placed on shifts alongside a senior doula's coordination support. This is how most doulas join Sanhu House.

  • Postpartum doula certification (DONA, CAPPA, or equivalent)
  • Some hands-on postpartum experience
  • Open to mentorship and structured feedback
  • Warmth, discretion, and a mother-first orientation
  • Located in or able to serve LA or Orange County

Start here, and there's a real path forward: Fellows who build a track record go on to mentor the next cohort themselves.
