Sanhu House provides managed in-home postpartum care throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. Care is available during the day or overnight at $65 an hour and is built around the mother’s recovery, the baby’s needs, and the rhythm of the household.

Sanhujori is a Korean-rooted approach to postpartum recovery centered on three foundations: warmth, rest, and nourishment. Every Sanhu House doula is trained to bring these principles into everyday care in ways that feel appropriate and useful for each family.

Both, but the mother’s recovery remains at the center. Your doula provides newborn care while also protecting your rest, supporting feeding, preparing light nourishment, offering warming practices, and reducing the practical demands placed on you.

During the day, your doula may care for the baby while you sleep or shower, support feeding, prepare bottles, handle baby laundry, offer recovery practices, prepare light nourishment, and help maintain a calm environment.

Overnight, your doula supports feeding, changing, soothing, and settling the baby between feeds. She also handles bottle preparation, sterilizing, baby laundry, and overnight care notes so you can protect longer windows of rest.

Doulas can prepare light nourishment, warm drinks, and simple foods using what is available in your home. Sanhu House care does not include meal delivery, catering, or full-service cooking.

Begin with a complimentary intro call. We’ll learn about your timing, location, recovery priorities, and the kind of support you are considering. If Sanhu House feels like the right fit, the next step is paying your matching fee and completing the Design Your Experience intake.

We recommend beginning during your second trimester whenever possible. Starting early gives us more time to understand your needs, complete the matching process, and plan for your expected care window. Families are still welcome to contact us later in pregnancy or after birth, subject to availability.

The $500 matching fee is separate from the cost of care. It covers the work required to create and carry out your doula match.

Once the fee is paid and your Design Your Experience intake is complete, we use your responses to create a match brief, identify potential doulas, and arrange your interviews. The intake is not a care plan and does not set your hours, price, or final care team.

The matching fee is non-refundable, including if Sanhu completes the matching work and arranges interviews but you choose not to proceed with a matched doula. The only exception is if Sanhu has no coverage in your requested service area. In that situation, $475 is refunded after a $25 processing charge.

We consider your location, requested schedule, recovery priorities, newborn-care needs, personality, household rhythm, and relevant doula experience. We then introduce you to potential doulas so you can determine whether the match feels right before active care begins.

You’ll complete your planning calls with our Matrescence Care Specialist to establish your hours and overall care structure. We’ll then send a Scope of Services & Care Agreement identifying your care team, schedule, and total hours. Signing that agreement confirms the start of active care.

Your Matrescence Care Specialist helps translate your recovery priorities into a practical structure for care. She works with you to determine the appropriate balance of daytime and overnight support and helps keep your care team aligned as your needs evolve.

In-home care is $65 an hour, during the day or overnight. Your total investment depends on how many hours you choose and how those hours are distributed across your recovery. The $500 matching fee is separate from the cost of care.

There’s no minimum number of shifts to book. Each shift is 4–12 hours, during the day or overnight, so you can build a schedule around the support your family needs.

No. They are examples of how different numbers of hours might take shape. Your actual schedule may be lighter, fuller, longer, or a completely different combination of daytime and overnight care.

Yes. Your schedule can include daytime visits, overnight care, or a combination of both. Many families use more overnight support early and adjust the balance as recovery and household needs change.

We expect postpartum needs to evolve. Our team can help you request schedule changes or additional hours as availability allows.

Babies rarely follow a precise schedule, and we approach timing changes with flexibility and understanding. We will first check whether your lead doula is available for the revised start date. If she is not, we will explore whether another matched doula is available. All changes and coverage remain subject to availability.

We prioritize continuity and aim to establish a lead doula who knows your family well. Depending on your hours, schedule, and doula availability, additional matched doulas may also be part of your care team. If availability changes, we will explore backup options, but replacement coverage cannot be guaranteed.

Sanhu House and our Care Team providers are out-of-network for all insurance companies. However, we can provide a detailed superbill for nonmedical postpartum and lactation services, which you may submit for potential insurance or HSA/FSA reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your individual plan, and Sanhu House cannot guarantee that any service or expense will be covered.

If your benefits provider requires a specific certification, such as DONA or Carrot-approved status, we will do our best to match you with a team member who meets that requirement. Matching remains subject to doula availability and does not guarantee reimbursement.

Our Insurance Check service includes a personalized review of your postpartum benefits and a one-page action plan outlining what may be covered and how to apply your benefits toward Sanhu House services. Final coverage and reimbursement decisions are made by your plan administrator.

The $500 matching fee is separate from the cost of care and is non-refundable except in the zero-access situation described in our matching-fee terms.

After your Scope of Services & Care Agreement is signed and the initial 50% care payment is collected, that payment is non-refundable. Once full payment is made at the start of care, no refunds will be issued.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. Exceptions may be considered at Sanhu House’s sole discretion in cases of pregnancy loss, medical emergencies, or other significant events. Schedule and date changes are subject to availability.

Your health and safety are among our highest priorities. All Sanhu House staff undergo thorough background checks and safety training and follow established hygiene and care protocols throughout your experience.

No. Sanhu House doulas provide nonmedical postpartum and newborn support. They work alongside your OB-GYN or midwife, pediatrician, IBCLC, therapist, physical therapist, and other clinical providers and help identify when a question should be directed to them.

Sanhu House maintains a referral network of preferred providers across areas such as lactation, pelvic-floor care, mental health, bodywork, and Eastern medicine. We can share relevant referrals, but outside appointments and services are booked and paid for directly by the family.
