Why We Only Care for a Small Number of Families at a Time

There's a reason we don't try to be everywhere at once.

At Sanhu House, we intentionally limit how many families we care for each month. Not because of logistics — but because good postpartum care isn't something you can scale without losing what makes it good.

When you're recovering from birth, you deserve more than a warm body in the room. You deserve someone who already knows you.

Your doula should feel like a choice, not an assignment

When we take on fewer families, we can take the time to match you with the right person — not just whoever is available. We want you to meet your doula before your due date. We want you to have real conversations, build trust, and feel settled walking into labor knowing exactly who will be there when you come home.

That relationship matters. And it takes time to build.

We want to know everything — before you need to tell us

Your food. Your preferences. The things that will help you feel like yourself again, and the things that won't. The equipment you'll actually use and the things that will just take up space in your living room.

When we're not stretched across too many families at once, we can learn all of it properly — and set everything up before you arrive home, not after.

You shouldn't be answering questions about your dietary preferences while you're engorged and exhausted at 3am. That's our job to have figured out already.

This is why we recommend booking in your second trimester

By the time most people reach out to us, they're in their third trimester — often weeks from their due date, sometimes days. We understand why. Postpartum feels far away when you're still pregnant.

But here's what we've learned: the families who book early are calmer going into birth. They're not trying to sort out support at the same time they're timing contractions. They know who's coming. They know it's handled.

Booking in your second trimester gives us time to do things properly — to match you with the right doula, get to know your family, understand your space, and make sure everything is in place long before you need it.

Summer 2025 is almost full

July has very limited availability remaining. August is almost full.

If your due date falls this summer and you've been meaning to reach out — now is the time. We'd rather you have options than be left waiting for a spot to open.

We're based in Los Angeles and Orange County, and we'd love to take care of you.
